We received this e-mail from Okanagan Hockey Academy UK :

On behalf of everyone connected with Okanagan Hockey Academy UK, I would like to say a huge thanks to you and your team for the fine tournament you arranged during the past weekend.
We were very impressed as always with the level of organisation and we are truly thankful for our invitation.
We hope that we did the tournament justice and we look forward to hopefully joining you in Riga in the near future.

As we discussed over the weekend, I would also like to extend an invitation to any teams that wish to travel to the UK. We would have pleasure in playing any teams from outside the UK and I would be more than happy to arrange other games for them whilst in the UK.

Kind regards

Welcome to Latvia – welcome to Riga – welcome to our 10th anniversary!

This year we celebrate our anniversary. Ten years of Riga Cup. Started as a small tournament with 24 teams in 2 age groups in 2006. Growing year by year to one of the largest youth tournaments in Europe and the world with almost 200 teams in 2015. A tournament to be held in several arenas in our beautiful city Riga and surroundings.
Over the years many clubs send teams in different age groups to our tournament. Several teams come back year after year to enjoy the hospitality from Riga, Latvia and the tournament. 2015 will be the tournament with a record number of teams.

This tournament will also be the one with a record number of different countries. We will host teams from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, England, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania and of course Latvia.

It was far from easy this year to finalize the schedules. Due to the economic crisis in Russia a lot of Russian teams withdrawn from the tournament on the last moment. Sport, especially for children, and politic should be 2 different things. However, we have all noticed that it has a big influence on our young fellow hockey players from Russia. A lot of these young hockey players will not be able to attend the tournament this year. We hope to see these youngsters next year in Riga again. Nevertheless we still have almost 4000 players attending the tournament this year.

As tournament organizers we are proud to have some long term partners. For many years we cooperate already with Rigas Dome, Tomo hotel, Bellevue Park hotel, Avalon hotel, Wellton Elefant hotel, Volvo Arena, Inbox Arena, PSL Arena, OZO Arena and SportsLukss. Of course we like to thank them all for their cooperation. Without them we would not have had a great tournament like Riga Cup is nowadays.
Furthermore we like to thank all players, coaches, parents, referees and everybody not mentioned here, because all together we make it possible to have such a great tournament.

Enjoy your weekend, enjoy the tournament and enjoy Riga!
On behalf of the Tournament Committee,
Angelo Bomius

As organizers of the Riga Cup we started several years ago with adopting an Orphanage during the Riga Cup Tournaments 2011 in Riga, Latvia. So this will be the fifth year already!!! For this project we choose Orphanage and Childcare Dzeguzite. In 2012, 2013 and 2014 we choose for two projects : Orphan House Dzeguzite (http://www.dzeguzite.lv/) and Orphan House Raiskuma (http://www.raiskumaintsk.edu.lv/ ). At the same time we were also able to choose for a third project : Cesis St. Johns Church. This because of the many gifts you brought us! All those years have been very, very successful! That's why we decided to adopt those projects again during the Riga Cup Tournaments 2015! We hope you will help us the same way as you did previous years!!! We are counting on you!!!!!

We have three goals for the Riga Cup Tournaments 2015 :

Our first goal is to try to make a memorable day for the children of Dzeguzite and Raiskuma. Our second goal is to try to get as many goods as possible for the children of Dzeguzite and Raiskuma. There is among other urgent needs for clothes for boys and girls for all ages, also need for baby clothes, and clothes for adults. Furthermore all the boys needs toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel, socks and the boys needs boxer shorts (new). Also the boys can always use footballs and basketballs type 5 and 6. The big girls loves real girl things, likes jewelry, make-up, nice smells, nice bags, nice photo frames etc. But off course they need also toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant and shower gel. Our third goal is to bring as many goods as we can for the people of the St. Johns Church from Cesis. Those people really can use everything!

You can help us to make a donation to our account stating "charity projects" or you can bring goods for our projects when you come over to visit one of our tournaments.
